The Eczacıbaşı VitrA women’s volleyball team beat its top Turkish rival Vakıfbank 3-1 in the semi-finals and Italy’s Unendo Yamamay Busto Arsizio 3-0 in the finals to become the Champion of the Champions on 6 April 2015. The Championship games took place in Szczecin, Poland, home of Chemik, the other semi-finalist in the competition. At the end of the two-day event, Eczacıbaşı VitrA won the Championship cup, Unendo Yamamay came in second, and VakıfBank placed third.
Participating in the award ceremony were Andre Meyer, President of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), Özkan Mutlugil, President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, and Pawel Papke, President of the Polish Volleyball Federation.
Eczacıbaşı VitrA players received their medals from Özkan Mutlugil, President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, and Tanju Kaya, Deputy General Manager of Denizbank, while Team Captain Esra Gümüş Kırıcı received the championship cup on the team’s behalf from CEV President Andre Meyer.
Dream Team Five: Five members of the Eczacıbaşı VitrA team were also chosen for the European Volleyball Federation’s Dream Team.
